We take a φ10 mm hinge pin as an example. The double shear failure load is ≥35 kN. This force can hold a heavy SUV or MPV door. We follow GB/T 13683 or ISO 3800 for axial fatigue testing. Under a cyclic load (load ratio R=0.1, max stress 500 MPa), the fatigue life is ≥5,000,000 cycles. This is much higher than a car door design life (usually 100,000 cycles). The material is SCM435 or 40Cr high carbon steel. The strength grade is 10.9. Tensile strength is ≥1000 MPa. Yield strength is ≥900 MPa. Elongation is ≥9%. Hardness is HRC 32-39. The outer diameter tolerance is h7 or h8 (±0.010-0.022 mm). Surface roughness is Ra≤0.8 μm. We use high carbon steel SCM435, 40Cr, or ML40Cr. It gets heat treatment (quenching and high temperature tempering). This gives a tempered sorbite structure.

Why Our Coating and Custom Options Work for You
The pin is cold headed or machined. After heat treatment, the pin deformation is ≤0.05 mm. No straightening is needed. The recommended fit gap between the pin and hinge hole is 0.05-0.10 mm. This gives smooth rotation and no noise. Surface finish is zinc-nickel alloy. The coating thickness is 8-15 μm. The nickel content is 12-15%. Neutral salt spray test per ASTM B117 gives ≥720 hours with no red rust. This is 5-10 times better than normal zinc plating. The zinc-nickel coating has a surface hardness of about HV 350-450. When it works with a hinge bushing (copper alloy or plastic), the wear rate is ≤0.01 mm per 100,000 cycles under dry friction. Our factory is in Shanghai Jiading.
