Types Of Nuts

Apr 19, 2026

A nut is a component used to securely fasten mechanical equipment together. Through the internal threads, a nut and a bolt of identical specifications can be joined; for instance, an M4-P0.7 nut can only be paired with a bolt from the M4-P0.7 series (in this designation, M4 indicates an approximate internal diameter of 4mm, while 0.7 indicates a thread pitch-the distance between two adjacent thread crests-of 0.7mm). The same principle applies to US-standard products; for example, a 1/4-20 nut can only be paired with a 1/4-20 bolt (where 1/4 indicates an approximate internal diameter of 0.25 inches, and 20 indicates a thread count of 20 threads per inch).
