We take an M8×1.25, grade 12.9 seat screw as an example. The proof load is ≥30 kN. The failure load is ≥36 kN. We follow GB/T 11557 or FMVSS 207 for seat impact testing. Under a 20g acceleration shock (about 2.5 times the seat weight), the screw does not break or come loose. The material is SCM435, SCM440, or ML40Cr. The strength grade is 10.9 or 12.9. Grade 10.9 has tensile strength ≥1000 MPa and yield ≥900 MPa. Grade 12.9 has tensile ≥1200 MPa and yield ≥1080 MPa. Thread precision is 6g. We can make full thread or partial thread. The shank can have a step, a snap ring groove, or knurling. A D-shaped head fits a D-shaped slot on the rail. This stops the screw from spinning during single side tightening. A T-shaped head hides inside a thin wall part. It gives a smooth surface. A flange head increases the bearing area. It stops indentation of aluminum or plastic seat structures.
