What are the common materials used for hardware components?

Copper: One of the most widely used materials, known for its excellent mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and machinability.

 

Stainless Steel: Highly durable; it becomes brighter and more lustrous with use. It possesses high strength, strong corrosion resistance, and retains its original color over time.

 

Zinc Alloy: While its strength and rust resistance are relatively lower, its primary advantage lies in the ease with which it can be cast into parts featuring intricate designs.

 

Aluminum or Aluminum Alloy: Standard aluminum alloys are soft and lightweight, with relatively low material strength; however, they are exceptionally easy to process and form into various shapes.

 

Plastics: Characterized by ease of processing, dimensional stability in finished products, and excellent surface gloss. They are easily painted or colored, and can undergo various secondary processing techniques such as metal spraying, electroplating, welding, hot pressing, and bonding.

 

Ceramics: The material with the highest stiffness and hardness, typically exceeding 1500 HV. They exhibit high compressive strength but low tensile strength, and possess very poor plasticity and toughness; however, they are resistant to oxidation and offer excellent corrosion resistance against acids, alkalis, and salts.

 

Baked Enamel: While its colors may not be as brilliant as those of metals, it imparts a sense of relaxed elegance. Furthermore, it is relatively easy to clean and leaves no residual marks or stains.

 

Chrome-Plated Copper: Features a bright, smooth, and refined surface finish that is pleasant to the touch-offering both aesthetic appeal and a premium tactile feel. It boasts excellent rust resistance, is exceptionally sturdy and durable, and is highly resistant to oxidation.
